June 2008

In the Master Mason Lecture, we learn of the symbolism of the Hourglass.  It is an emblem of human life and we are taught to consider how quickly life passes and how rapidly we approach the end of our time here on Earth.

Time cannot be bought nor can it be stopped.  How often do we say “Where did the time go?” or “It seems like only yesterday…”?

Also in the MM Lecture, we are taught that in “manhood”, that is our working adult life, we should make valuable use of our time in our service to the Grand Architect of the Universe, to our families, neighbors, and ourselves.  This is done so that in age, we may happily reflect upon a well spent life and pass on to the Lodge on High.

These 2 pieces together admonish us to make careful and valuable use of our time in administering to our duties to God, your families, supporting your lodge and your brothers and our neighbors in the community so that we can look back, years from now and know happily, where the time really did go.

Master’s Message

My Brothers,

Let me first apologize for an error in my last Trestleboard.  In my rush to get the Trestleboard written and into our Secretaries hands before the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge, I forgot to update the Grand Master’s information to be that of our newly elected Grand Master, MW John M. Colligas.  I am sorry for the error and have updated it effective with this Trestleboard.

Congratulations to SW Ken Wasiewicz and the rest of the officers for a fine advanced station conferral of the Fellow Craft Degree. Our JD Greg Tierno did a fine job as SD and delivered a fine lecture.  In speaking with the new FCs after the degree, they were quite impressed with the degree and all of the officers are all to be commended.

It is going to be a very busy June.  We have a MM Degree, Gold Token and GLI, which a great number of Clifton Lodge Officers and PMs will participate in.  We hope to see as many of you as possible at these important evenings, especially when we raise three young men to the sublime degree of Master Mason.

Fraternally,

WB Kevin DeFeo
